National digital library

Dear all .
The Union Ministry of Human Resources is giving an opportunity for the public to utilize the lockdown period for reading. The ministry will give free access to the National Digital Library where over 38200000 books and periodicals will be available to read.
The digital version of the books and magazines can be read using any digital device including smart phone, computer or tablet. Interested people can log on to the digital library website of the ministry https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in/

Please provide wide circulation to this information among all the faculty / students/ supportive staff and others to make best use of the time during COVID-19.

If you are using the website for digital library then from today you should use the app of National digital library . Digital library is also available in app . So , go to your play store or app store & download the app now

First when you open the app you will see the interface like this . First you have to login for the NDL by filling all your information . If there is your first time for National digital library then you have to sign in for NDL . For signing in you have to fill the information, which is required .

In this app you will get subject domain section . In this section various domains are shown . Computer science & information , philosophy & psychology , Religion , social sciences , language , Natural sciences & technology , & also much more . Suppose I have selected the domain technology . When you click on technology domain all the technology related books you will appear . You can select which you want .

Also you can search your own book from this search bar . This is the search bar for searching your favourite books . You can search story books , language books , recipe books , history books & much other you want .

Here in this upper right corner the browse button is available . By which you can browse the contents you want . You can select the content by type of text , video , image , audio , presentation , simulation , animation & application . Next browsing is by source . Means these are the source of library or organisation you can select . By tapping on “by subject” you can browse your content by subject . Here you have to select first level subject , second level subject & third level subject & then apply . Next is learning resource . The .learning resource is also available here .

Then next is learning resource. Learning resource means which type of learning do you want to refer . You can refer books from here & also you can refer question paper , article , video lectures , audio lectures or thesis . By tapping on this earth shape button you can select your language . Here also you get the filter options .

Hey ! The one function that you must know about NDL that is the filter option . If you search for a machine Book then you filter your search from this bottom right filter button . When you tap on this filter button you can select author . Which author’s Book you want to read . Next is the education level . Means the topic that you want is related with which education level . Then , next is language . You can select the language which you want . Next is the learning resource type . It means that the resources which you want to prefer . In this learning you can select source of library which you want . you can select your content type & access restrictions also .

From apply button you can apply your filters to your domain or search & from this bottom right button “reset all” you can reset your filters .

One more section is available at the bottom of the homepage is “featured content” . Here you will appear the topics which are mostly used in India . Here you will get the featured content of IIT , JEE , GATE , NPTL , NCERT & much more
